MAT PERRY
With eight years as a tour professional, Mat Perry brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role as Director at ‘Golf in New Zealand’.
With over 15 years in the golf industry, Mat has had a multifaceted career, first as an Amateur representing New Zealand, then as a tour pro competing around the world, before turning his focus to golf tourism as Director of Pinpoint Golfing Experiences. His extensive background has shaped him into a respected figure within the golfing industry.
A former New Zealand Amateur Champion and Eisenhower Trophy rep, Mat has played in more than 30 countries, absorbing knowledge and insights from leading figures and players in the golfing world.
While based in Melbourne, Mat forged a successful partnership with Crown Casino, assuming a VIP hosting role and guiding guests around their exclusive course. This experience allowed him to refine his skills and deepen his understanding of hosting clients on course.
Now based in Hawke’s Bay, Mat enjoys a balanced lifestyle with his greatest achievement being a parent to his three children, alongside his wife Lucinda. Mat embraces the opportunity to showcase his homeland to golfers from diverse backgrounds and of varying abilities.
Driven by a passion for sharing his golfing knowledge and helping others unlock their potential, Mat is unwavering in his commitment to delivering exceptional experiences across the New Zealand golfing landscape.
BILL HIRD
Bill Hird is a proud 5th generation Kiwi, a New Zealand wine judge and food enthusiast, with a deep passion for New Zealand culture and history.
His expertise is in luxury, tailor-made lifestyle travel for the best of New Zealand wine, food, and culture, honed through the past decade in his travel company, Landmarks New Zealand.
As a senior judge at the New Zealand International Wine Show and a member of the New Zealand Sommelier & Wine Professionals Association, Bill enjoys a wide network of winemakers and hospitality professionals across New Zealand.
Bill as Director brings to ‘Golf in New Zealand’ his strong set of values. He believes in open, transparent communication and treating everyone with respect and kindness.
He has a deep-rooted passion for travel in New Zealand and has explored every corner of the country. He’s constantly curious, delighting in unearthing the new, the special and occasionally, the unconventional local gems for guests from around the globe.
Living in central Auckland, most weekends, when he’s not exploring the landscapes of New Zealand, he can be found around the galleries or checking out the latest additions to the hospitality scene that continuously emerge in New Zealand’s most vibrant city.
